SCM workshop big success
The 3rd Annual Strategic Communication Management Summit organised by Melcrum, was held in Sydney between 24-25 May with workshops on 23 May.
Jo Curkpatrick led an interactive workshop titled Communicating Beyond the City Fringe: Planning Communication Strategies to Engage Internal and External Audiences Outside the City.
Most organisations have stakeholders in regional towns and rural communities. Whether they are company employees, customers, or stakeholders, communicators based in the city need to understand what makes them tick if they are to be effective in engaging them.
It can be challenging for communicators to tailor messages for diverse audiences, whether employees or stakeholders in regional areas.
To meet that challenge Jo was able to share tips and case studies on how to:
- Improve your understanding of what makes stakeholders and audiences different
- Help you better segment your audiences and stakeholders and better tailor your messages to these different groups
- Help you connect with regional employees and develop effective strategies for engaging them
- Show how a good communication strategy can impact on the bottom line
"It was a challenge for me to face my peers and pass on some of my experience and expertise in this area of communication," said Jo, " but it was also a really rewarding afternoon sharing stories and ideas with people."
